Man you wouldn’t want to be sitting in Jane Eliotts workshops – yet there is something powerful that you can learn from her brutal method – it lets you see the magnitude of institutional racism and how systems vs minorities are still very subtle – the white superiority myth.
Everybody will have moments they felt discriminated but what most of us fail to understand is the magnitude of systems vs minorities – The myth of white superiority. It has nothing to do with person to person encounters and it is not about hating (Its not about you John or Martha or Ayeso – whoever you are – its not about you! )
It’s about Power at another level – when a minority group has to live with systems that make it difficult to built wealth for their generations.(not riches & not something to live by and oh definitely not just an acknowledgement of their existence and accepting humanity) As long as we still go WOW check that out – there are ten black men/women running successful global businesses while their generations to come don’t see the fruit of liberation and have no wealth – we have a long way to go!
We have been conditioned to be subtle about it and have turned it into positive racism. And no please stop comparing this to that discrimination you faced because of your weight, hair or fashion sense. You can’t change how God made you. You can’t decide one morning to shave off your whiteness neither can you suddenly throw back your blackness like yesterday’s bad fashion choice.
As long as we still go WOW check that out – there are ten black men/women running successful global businesses while their generations to come don’t see the fruit of liberation and have no wealth – we have a long way to go!
As long as people are still as ignorant as what Jane Eliott’s workshop shows the systems we live in will continue to be conditioned by the systems we live in.
