When you think according to a system – you are programmed to fit into it. Its about survival of the fittest and realization of time zones where the prepared and those with opportunities that meet them during their time of preparedness will survive. At the age of 40 your clock to have babies is almost up – so at 20 – 30 most are preparing. At 10 – 20 most are chasing education and at 30 man you must be doing something reasonable according to society. That is the life you are taught to chase. We are programmed to think in time zones partitioned by a system. After this , there is that and before that there has to have been … and when you have missed a time zone – that red light starts flicking. Yet it is deceiving – because life is not a race. It erases identities with programmed robots.
If we looked at our self as single human beings – so distinct from a system or any one else or group – our identities would flourish – because the power in the words unique self would be manifested in all things we do. A lot of times people tag other people as bench marks – as their competitors – the system keeps building on success stories – yet what made success stories is in most cases their uniqueness. We have people aiming to be the second Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Oprahs and Mandelas- but we have had those already – so who are you? Your identity is unique. If you were made to be a duplicate of Mandela then what a shame – your original self is worth more than any body who ever lived- because you are the sole manuscript of yourself. I am not speaking of models and hence not implying that wheels should not be bent – but here I speak of self – that is not a wheel to be bent. There can only be one you. When you fully realize who you are – you will see it is different from pride of self.
Driven, I walked out of the doors of university to conquer. Every one of us as graduates skimming through our lives – to keep up with the rest – to be like someone or something. Generation Y is in this big race and the millennials are following closely . Following the path to “we have made it”. Yet what is flawed is there is no destination – its non existent – this race to be “someone”. You already are …
Your identity is the key to everything- who are you? Pride is the worst walk when you don’t know who you are and what you are worth. When you know who you are – nothing can take it away – you have nothing to prove and you have nothing to worry about – your life is not a competition with anyone. You have no equal because there can only be one original manuscript. Start walking your walk. And each and every person you meet is a unique manuscript of them self – respect everyone, realize their worth, talents and identity. Its not a you , you , you , unique story . Relearning #humility
The red apple standard : If you look at this picture and see yourself as the green apple. Think again. Unless it implies everyone else is a duplicate of the “red apple standard”.
When you know who you are – nothing can take it away – you have nothing to prove and you have nothing to worry about – your life is not a competition with anyone.
DON’T SPEND Your time trying to benchmark yourself according to the red apple standard.
Don’t be the fool who thinks they are the green apple in a stalk of red apples. Be humble, know your worth, know who you are and realize that others you meet are also a unique manuscript. It’s less about you and more about others. That’s leadership. And no – it doesn’t mean being a doormat , or looking down on yourself, or pretending to be nothing when you are something – it simply means your identity is rooted.
You have no equal because there can only be one original manuscript. Start walking your walk. And each and every person you meet is a unique manuscript of them self – respect everyone, realize their worth, talents and identity. Its not a you , you , you , unique story . Relearning #humility
